Anniversary


Can you imagine? Exactly five years ago the city of Salamanca in Spain was sighing under a heat wave. A Swedish student almost finished her term and was ready to return home, when she walked into the ‘O Harris bar. Her friend was talking to this Dutch bloke, who thought he could learn Spanish in just two weeks. He disqualified himself even more by admitting he had no motorbike, no tattoos and he could not even tell Michael Jackson song from Prince. Worst match ever, you think?!?

Well here we are, celebrating our fifth anniversary this weekend on a romantic getaway in Victor Harbor. On the shores of the southern ocean we were looking out for dolphins, penguins and whales. This time no heat wave and no Spanish classes, but still just as happy as that summer in Salamanca. It's been a great adventure all along. Too bad for that motorbike though ;-)

Van harte gefeliciteerd met dit mooie lustrum !! Het zijn geen saaie jaren geweest !! Mooi jullie zo happy samen te zien, daar aan de andere kant van de wereld. Best beetje jammer dat het zo ver vliegen is, anders hadden we zeker met het hele clubje al keertje langsgeweest. Misschien moet ik ook maar eens op taalcursus hahah. Maar ik ga eerst 25 juni 10 dagen een actieve "single" reis naar de franse pyreneeen maken, beetje canyoning, raften, abseilen en wandelen en ....slapen in een tentje. Ik dacht doe eens gek, wat anders. nog veel gelukkige jaren samen, dikke kus Bianca

je weet ik ben altijd te laat met dit soort dingen maar dat neemt niet weg dat ik hartstikke fijn vind jullie zo happy te zien! Van harte gefeliciteerd..

En ja ik heb schietlessen genomen.. wie weet raak ik nog eens wat.. ;-)

Finally, after such a long wait, there she is: another little girl. And what a surprise she has for us: dark hair and dark eyes! The longer we look at her, the less sure we are of the exact colour of her eyes. Is it brown, dark blue or even dark green? Her birth was in many ways similar to Nora’s one. This time it took 12 hours (who says the second one is easier?!?) The baby was almost two weeks late and had to be induced.  We did so early in the morning in the small countryside hospital of Mt Barker.  After a couple of hours the contractions really took off, and Mikaela got her epidural. Look who is there?!?

Yep, it’s for real. We are officially expecting! An Aussie-Swedish-Dutch-Frisian baby is in the making. In week sixteen now and it’s all looking very good. Due date is somewhere half March, at the end of the summer. For us it is of course the greatest news ever. Mikaela has followed a typical textbook pregnancy so far: some nausea, tiredness, mood swings and a totally messed up taste for food and snacks! She even dislikes chocolate now!!! How crazy can it get?!? But it’s all looking good. We already had an early ultrasound and we saw the little one actively twisting, turning and even waving at us. It was even making loops! Clearly it is having a good time in mummy’s womb. So once again we are ‘on the move’: another big and exciting change ahead of us. We can still hardly believe it ourselves. It’s such a new world to us that we often feel a bit lost. How do start a journey like this?!?

Number Two

Say hello to our latest addition of the family. Yes, we are expecting again! Twelve weeks into it, and the little one is already waving at us through the ultrasound. Very comfy it was moving around, clearly enjoying to be watched. The news may come hardly as a surprise, since we’ve always wanted a second one. But its gonna be a big change. In particular for Nora, who will soon be a big sister. A role that will fit her just fine, as she loves to boss around others. Our little bubs will need to have some balls to stand up to her. But for now the little peach is still calm and peacefully enjoying mummy’s womb. Which it will keep doing until early October, if all goes to plan. Meanwhile mummy has been enjoying morning sickness, food intolerance, nausea and all other typical symptoms of what is supposed to be the best period of her life. Aren’t you jealous? PS. Bets are on.
