Milestones


This Sunday we went to IKEA for a new High Chair: another milestone in Nora’s career. Watch this video of the first time she joins us for dinner.

Talking about milestones, there are plenty to mention:
Nora is going on her first flight next week to Canberra for her Swedish passport, Mummy is already slowly preparing for solid foods, Daddy climbed Mt Lofty on his mountain bike last week (still hurts), and Mum and Dad celebrate their 6th anniversary this weekend. On top of that we had the coldest night of the season: down to 3°C.
So who says our life is not exciting?!?

Ik had al gehoord dat jullie een mooie dochter hadden, maar heb niet echt tijd gehad(ik schijn nogal eens naar een ver land te reizen) om naar de weblog te kijken. Alsnog van harte gefeliciteerd met jullie wondertje. Op wie lijkt ze, wordt altijd gevraagd. Ach ze zal van allebei wel wat hebben. Jullie komen dit jaar met oud en nieuw naar Nederland, las ik. Helaas ben ik er dan niet, dan zit ik in warmere oorden, maar wie weet zien we elkaar in de toekomst. Australië staat nl nog steeds op ons verlanglijstje. Veel geluk met zijn drieën!

Finally, after such a long wait, there she is: another little girl. And what a surprise she has for us: dark hair and dark eyes! The longer we look at her, the less sure we are of the exact colour of her eyes. Is it brown, dark blue or even dark green? Her birth was in many ways similar to Nora’s one. This time it took 12 hours (who says the second one is easier?!?) The baby was almost two weeks late and had to be induced.  We did so early in the morning in the small countryside hospital of Mt Barker.  After a couple of hours the contractions really took off, and Mikaela got her epidural. Look who is there?!?

Yep, it’s for real. We are officially expecting! An Aussie-Swedish-Dutch-Frisian baby is in the making. In week sixteen now and it’s all looking very good. Due date is somewhere half March, at the end of the summer. For us it is of course the greatest news ever. Mikaela has followed a typical textbook pregnancy so far: some nausea, tiredness, mood swings and a totally messed up taste for food and snacks! She even dislikes chocolate now!!! How crazy can it get?!? But it’s all looking good. We already had an early ultrasound and we saw the little one actively twisting, turning and even waving at us. It was even making loops! Clearly it is having a good time in mummy’s womb. So once again we are ‘on the move’: another big and exciting change ahead of us. We can still hardly believe it ourselves. It’s such a new world to us that we often feel a bit lost. How do start a journey like this?!?
